In addition to Humans being sentient beings in LoM's world, Dragons are also a sentient being. They are as varied and diverse as humans although their physical differences are quite dramatic, particulary between Elemental Dragons (e.g., Fire Dragons and Water Dragons are totally different, the latter tending to live in mountainous areas while the former is most often found living in large bodies of water). Dragons also vary dramatically in size from absolutely enormous (Mazzeroth being the largest of the Monolithic Dragons) to tiny (Sparrow sized White Dragons). The Primary Elemental Dragons (Dogo - Earth, Rekka - Fire, Jinu - Air, Agaz - Water) played a very large part in the OS guiding the Heros through their Elemental Training and providing them with the skills necessary to seal Mazzeroth back in his mountain. There was also mention of a Silver and a Gold dragon although I no longer remember their purpose in the OS… they can be something of a legend within the Legend, so to speak.
Earth Dragon:
Generally calm and non-aggressive. Heavy set but not necessarily fat. Very sturdy and hardy. Does not fly but can use its wings to glide if/when necessary (e.g., gliding over a gorge of sorts). Generally found in mountainous and cavernous areas. Usually very large. Various shades of green, brown and sometimes yellow.
Air Dragon:
Cunning and sleek. Not typically aggressive but particularly cautions and suspicious. Very powerful flyer. Typically found in and around mountains, cliffsides and bluffs. Large size. Various shades of grey and pale blue.
Fire Dragon:
Trim and well defined features. Has a 'horny' appearance similar to that of the Thorny Devil. Easily angered and agitated — will persue perceived threats relentlessly. Powerful flyers althought not as fast or graceful as Air Dragons. Medium to Large. Shades of red, orange and black.
Water Dragon:
Body built for underwater swimming, sometimes serpentine in appearance. Very mild and timid manerisims. Has a tendancy to flee when threatened. Very easily tamed and extremely loyal. Various from small to large. Various shades of blue and purple.
Spirit Dragon:
These are very rare dragons that possess all elemental abilities. Their personalities are as varied as the other elemental dragons. Their body types can have shapes similar to any of the four elemental types or entirely unique shapes. These dragons range in size from tiny (sparrow sized) to huge. Either pure white or irridecent pearly white.
Mazzeroth:
Mazzeroth is a special case. He has fire and earth elemental attributes but is downright mean. Not only does he have an obsession with dominance over the entire world, he is agressive to the point of being cruel. He lacks any real reguard for life. His body is similar in shape and appearance to that of a fire dragon except that he is pitch black and huge. He lives in a lair atop a mountain covered with volcanic ash and rocks.
